You can speed up application loading by changing the default value of Windows Prefetcher .The default value is 3 . You can change value up to 9 which make applications load faster

Go to registry editor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM --> CurrentControlSet --> Control --> Session Manager --> Memory Management --> PrefetchParameters

Open the DWORD EnablePrefetcher.

The default value for the EnablePrefetcher is 3.

Change its value (up to 9)

A restart is required for the change to take effect.
windows prefetcher -Load Applications Faster by pre-fetching the Application

Turn Off Windows Animation

Go to registry editor

HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Control Panel --> Desktop --> WindowMetrics

Open the string value MinAnimate.

The default value for the MinAnimate is 1.

Change its value to 0

A restart is required for the change to take effect.
Turn Off Windows Animation

Change the Location of My Documents

Right click My Documets and select properties.

Click on Move button

It opens a new window which helps you to select a new location for My documents to save the drive space of windows installed partition.

Change the Location of My Documents (Registry Hack)

First move the contents of My Documents to a new location, say it as "G:\My Docs"

Open Windows registry editor.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> User Shell Folders

Double click the string value "personal"

Default value of "personal" is %USERPROFILE% \ My Documents

Change its value as G:\My Docs. Close registry

A restart is not required for the change to take effect.

The same way , you can change other special folder's paths also

Change the Default Location of Win XP Source CD

Whenever you need additional set up files of XP, it seeks the files in the default installation pah (Usually CD drive). If you have a back up of XP CD in hard drive, you need a navigation to this area at the additional installation time. (Installing addtional set up files from hard disk is faster.). You can set this back up folder as default installation path of XP by a small registry hack.

Open Windows registry editor.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Setup

Locate the string value "SourcePath" .

Double click on this string to modify its value.

Enter the XP back up folder name as value data.
