Disable Thumbnail Caching

One of Explorer’s features is to display a thumbnail of images and the first frame of the video when seen in Thumbnail view. Fetching thumbnails from the cache is significantly faster,but will consume a lot of hard disk space. Disable fetching thumbnails from the cache if your hard disk space it too low.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> Advanced
Double click the DWORD Value "DisableThumbnailCache" to change the value.
The default value is "0" . This enables fetching thumbnails from the cache.
Set the value as "1" if you don't like fetching thumbnails from the cache.
Disable The Desktop Cleanup Wizard

By default the Desktop Cleanup Wizard runs every 60 days to clean up unused shortcuts and other desktop items. If you don’t want it , navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> Desktop --> CleanupWiz
Double click the DWORD Value "NoRun" to change the value.
The default value is "1" . This enables The Desktop Cleanup Wizard to run automatically
Set the value as "0" if you don’t want it.
Disable The Search Assistant

HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main
Double click the DWORD Value "Use Search Asst" to change the value.
The default value is "yes" . This enables The Search Assistant
Set the value as "no" to disable the new search assistant and use the classic search interface.
Remove "File" From Explorer

HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Policies --> Explorer
Create a DWORD Value named "NoFileMenu"
Double click this DWORD to modify its value.
Set the value as "1" to Remove "File" From Explorer.
Set the value as "0" to bring back the poor "File" menu if you begin to pity it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Policies --> Explorer

Restore Folders Upon Startup

You can specify whether the folders that were open at the point of the last shutdown should re-open when the system starts up next.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> Advanced
Double click the DWORD "PersistBrowsers" to modify its value.
Set the value as "1" to re-open the folders when the system restarts.
Set the value as "0" to not re-open the folders when the system restarts.
