Windows XP Tips & Tricks Page 1

Get the start button in WindowsXP to display the system time
Goto the page http://startclock.osnn.net/files/
Download startclock_installer.exe
Now install this program to your computer
This program replaces the word "start" with system clock
Make change in the configaration settings
Use ctrl + Alt + x to exit this program
Replace the default MS XP "Copying"animation
Shell32.dll contains windows file copying animation
Download resource hacker tool from the site
www.downseek.com/download/19759.asp to replace the file copying animation
Goto windows\system32\
Backup the file system32.dll
Open system32.dll in the tool resource hacker
Goto AVI\160\
Right click 1033->Replace a resource-> Locate a new animation
Enter the following information
       Resource type : AVI
       Resource Name : 160
      Resource Language : 1033
Goto 161\1033
Do the above 2 step to replace animation
Click save button
Restart your computer in DOS mode
Replace the system32.dll with modified system32.dll file
Restart your computer
Stopping MSN Messenger from starting automatically
Navigate to User configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Messenger.
Click on 'Do not automatically start windows messenger initially' to prevent starting MSN Messenger when you start Windows .
Disabling Windows Update
Go to User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Componentes --> Windows Update.
Enabe "Remove access to all update features" to disable windows update
Removing Unnecessary option from Task Manager

If you want to remove some option from the Task Manager ,navigate to user configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Componentes -->System --> Ctrl+Alt+Del option .
In the right-hand pane,disable any option that says 'Remove logoff ' by checking it.
Removing inactive icons from system tray
Go to User configuration --> Administrative templates --> Start menu and Tool bar.
On the right-hand side ,scroll down to'Turn off notification area clean up'.
Now your icons cannot be hidden at all.
Disable list of start up programes
Go to User Configuration -->Administrative Templates--> system --> Logon and enable 'Do not process the run once list'.
Sharing Internet Connection
Go to Control Panel --> Network Connections
Click on 'Set up or change your home or small office Internet connection'.
A wizard will help you to set up or change your home or small office Internet connection
