Disable User Tracking

XP’s inbuilt user tracking system keeps track of the programs run by a user, the documents used etc. This feature takes a very good amount of system resources and useful only to the administrators. To disable this feature

Create a new DWORD and name it as "NoInstrumentation"
Double click this DWORD to change the value data as "1”.
The default value is "0"
To close an application that does not respond during system shutdown

Go to registry editor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Control Panel --> Desktop
Create a new string value and name it as "AutoEndTasks"
Double click this string value to change the value data as "1” to kill the application immediately.
The default value is "0" to prompt for user action
Also go to:
HKEY_USERS --> .DEFAULT --> Control Panel --> Desktop
Do the steps 3 and 4.
The string value "WaitToKillAppTimeout" in the above 2 locations controls the time to wait before stopping an application.
Reducing this value also gives a better performance.
